Maldives Honeymoon Packages from Chennai

By Curate Your Vacation · Updated September 2026

Chennai has direct flights to Malé of about ninety minutes, which makes the Maldives one of the easiest international honeymoons to organise from the city. This page covers what it costs from Chennai, how resort transfers work, and how to choose the island.

How we work with Chennai couples. We do not have a Chennai office — we look after Chennai couples from Coimbatore and Bangalore, over WhatsApp and phone. Everything from the itinerary to the final documents is handled remotely, and plenty of our Chennai honeymooners never need to meet us in person.

Flights from Chennai to Maldives

Chennai has direct flights to Malé of roughly an hour and a half, which makes it one of the quickest international honeymoons available from South India. Morning departures are worth targeting, because seaplane transfers to the outer atolls only operate in daylight.

Departure airport: Chennai International Airport (MAA). Fares and schedules move constantly, so treat every figure on this page as a planning range rather than a quote — we price the actual dates you give us.

Plan the arrival, not just the flight. Seaplane transfers in the Maldives only fly in daylight. If your flight lands in Malé late afternoon, the resort will usually put you in an airport hotel for the night at your own cost — so the cheap late flight often is not the cheap option. We check the resort's transfer window before we book the airfare, not after.

What a Maldives honeymoon costs

The Maldives has no single price, because the resort island you pick changes everything. These are the bands we actually quote in, per couple for five nights:

TypeTotal cost (per couple)
Budget — local-island guesthouse plus day trips₹1,00,000–1,40,000
Mid-range — 4-star all-inclusive resort₹2,20,000–3,20,000
Luxury — 5-star overwater villa₹4,50,000–8,00,000
Ultra-luxury — Soneva, Cheval Blanc and similar₹10,00,000+

Those figures exclude airfare from Chennai. We quote the resort and the transfer together, because a speedboat island and a seaplane island at the same nightly rate are not the same price once you land.

Best time to travel

The dry north-east monsoon, roughly November to April, is the Maldives' peak season and the most reliable for weather — and the most expensive, particularly over Christmas and New Year. May and October sit on the shoulder and can be 20 to 30 per cent cheaper for weather that is still mostly good.

Visa

Every visitor to the Maldives, Indian passport holders included, receives a free 30-day visa on arrival. You need a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed resort booking and a return ticket.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Maldives honeymoon cost from Chennai?

Budget roughly ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,40,000 per couple for five nights on a local island, ₹2,20,000 to ₹3,20,000 for a mid-range all-inclusive resort, and ₹4,50,000 upwards for an overwater villa. Direct flights from Chennai are short and usually add ₹22,000 to ₹40,000 per couple.

Is there a direct flight from Chennai to Maldives?

Yes. Chennai to Malé is roughly an hour and a half direct, making it one of the shortest international honeymoon flights available from India.

Do you have an office in Chennai?

No. We look after Chennai couples from Coimbatore and Bangalore, over WhatsApp and phone.

Which is better for a honeymoon, a resort island or a local island?

A resort island buys you privacy, the overwater villa and all-inclusive dining. A local island costs a third as much and puts you among people. Most honeymooners want the resort; a good number are happier splitting the trip between both, which we are glad to build.
